SPECIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarship for Innovative Health Systems Research

The intent of this award is to support an academic clinician who has a special interest in innovative health systems research. The scholarship will provide salary support in the amount of $50,000 for a one-year period, with the possibility of renewal for one further year. In addition, a one-time discretionary award of $15,000 will be provided for expenses directly related to the research project of the Scholar, but not for salary of the recipient. One award may be made each year providing a suitable candidate is found from among a maximum of 10 nominees. Candidates are nominated by the five Ontario medical schools (two from each school) and must:

1. Be an M.D. and a member of the faculty of an Ontario university.

2. Currently be licensed to practice medicine in Ontario.

3. Provide a description of how time will be devoted to the research (at least 50% of the candidate's time should be devoted to the research).

4. Be someone who has had some recognized or proven expertise in health care research or administration.

5. Carry out the research at a university, or university affiliated hospital, or a site approved by the applicant's university.

6. Be legally entitled to employment in Canada at the time of taking up the award.

 

The requirements listed above must also be met in order to qualify for renewal support.

 

Submissions for this competition must be made through the Faculty of Medicine and applications can be obtained from each of the medical schools.
